Calvera Lake Loop Trail and Oak Riparian Loop, Carlsbad

Description: These two trails include mixed chaparral, huge live Oaks, a view of the lake, as well as possible views out to the ocean. It is a flat, easy walk, except a short, steep area to the top of Mount Calavera. Mount Calavera is the remains of a volcano. The park is named for the beautiful live oaks within it.

Please bring a chair and a nosh for after the hike. There are picnic tables but they might be taken.
Directions: go north on I-5 to Highway 78. Then east on the college exit. Go south 0.4 miles on College to Lake boulevard and turn left. Drive east 1.5 miles to Ridge Road. On the left of Lake Boulevard is Ridge Road and on the right is the park entrance. There's a small brown building on the left as you turn into the entrance. We will meet in the parking lot near the children's play area.
