GOODAN RANCH/SYCAMORE CANYON OPEN SPACE RESERVE (EAST)
Saturday, MAY 5, 2018 @9:30AM
The hike is a mixture of terrains…scrub, chaparral, and oak woodlands. Scattered ranches, barns, orchards and horses can be seen along the trail and they serve as a symbol of its historic past. The Goodan family bought the ranch in 1938 and in time it became a haven for family and friends. It is now jointly owned by Poway, Santee, San Diego county and the department of fish and game. It is 1700 acres of hills, vegetation and wildlife that surrounds the 325 acre Goodan Ranch. It sustained much damage during the 2003 fires, but much restoration has occurred.
