We are going to CAMP PENDLETON, the largest west coast facility of the Marines at 125,000 acres! Volunteers from the Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores docents group, dressed in period costume, will lead us on a 90 minute walking tour of the adobe, the chapel and bunkhouse that has been home to families and marines since 1810, These tours are set to close in Oct of this year so this is a perfect time to see this historic site filled with antiques, period furniture and memorabilia from visiting presidents and movie stars.
Registration is a 2 step process and must be done at least 2 weeks in advance so tour sign ups will close on May 22. After registering on the GOYR website, please email me your FULL name, Driver's License # and state, full birthdate, phone # and email address. This is necessary for each person registered to attend as I have to submit it for clearances.
Enter at the main gate in Oceanside (exit 54c) no later than 9:30 since the drive to the ranch house is about 20 minutes. When entering main gate, identify yourself and they will give you directions to the tour site.
I will be sending more info when we get closer to the tour date. There are lunch options at the main gate area or you can bring your lunch or go into Oceanside if you prefer afterwards. This is going to be a very unique and special tour.
