This 3 mile walk will cover all of the Highlights of San Diego’s Cabrillo National Monument. Highlights include wonderful view of San Diego, Coronado, the Pacific Coastline, Juan Cabrillo history, WWll history, lighthouse exploration and sightings of the Pacific Fleet. The 1st mile of the walk will be wondering around the grounds of the Monument and the other two miles will be a walk down and back up the Bayside Trail. The hike back up is a bit strenuous as we will climb a little over 300 feet in less than a mile. Most of the walk will be on asphalt with the exception of ½ mile of packed gravel.
Entry into the Monument requires an Interagency or National Park Senior Pass or will cost $20 per vehicle. We can arrange for carpools from outside the park to save on the entry fee. Cabrillo National Monument is located at the end of Catalina Blvd - address 1800 Cabrillo Monument Drive. We will meet at the overlook just outside the Visitor Center.
For those that are interested, you may enjoy heading down to the tide pools for a little exploration
For carpools, I suggest meeting near the parking area by Peet’s Coffee in the shopping center located at 955 Catalina Blvd.
