Join fellow rockers on a special walk to uncover the earliest history of San Diego
This special walking tour focuses on the Presidio de San Diego, its ruins preserved underground below the Serra Museum. Visitors will learn the historical significance of this site and show the unique San Diego river and marine environment has been critical to the people who have used its life giving resources since time immemorial and do so today.
Discover how archaeologists and historians have been able to understand what buildings and structures were there and how augmented reality has helped reveal long lost secrets of the Presidio site.
This walking tour will cover multiple elevations, that include uneven surfaces and paths, some sloped or with stairs, and many without handrails. Appropriate footwear is recommended.
Following the tour of the Presidio grounds, visitors can browse the exhibitions inside the newly renovated Serra Museum including an interactive experience telling the stories of people that came to settle the area, and why the Presidio continues to be a significant and sacred site. This renovation, eight years in the making, preserves and restores the original architectural splendor of the interior spaces of the museum, and provides visitors with breathtaking views from the Serra’s iconic tower.
