Azalea Glen Trail - Cuyamaca State Park
Moderate 4 mile loop trail with 700 feet of elevation gain on the slope of Cuyamaca Mountain. Elevation at the park is 5000 feet. See how the Cuyamaca Park vegetation has recovered from the 2003 Cedar Fire. Nice views along the way.
Bring plenty of fluids, good water repellant hiking shoes, poles recommended, rest rooms available. Trail is rocky in places and could be muddy.
Directions: Take Highway 79 for 12 miles north of the I - 8 exit. Park in the visitors parking area in the Paso Picacho Campground. Carpools will be arranged. There is a $10 per car entry fee for daily use.
The restaurant at Lake Cuyamaca is a good option for lunch afterwards.
