HIKE - Desert Wildflower Exploration
About this event
HIKE - 3 miles up Borrego Palm Canyon plus other flower observation points within Anza Borrego State Park.
Like a gentle kiss, the winter rains have blessed our local desert this year with wildflowers. Join fellow Rockers on a fun outing led by naturalist Brian Swanson. Meet at 9:30 at the Anza Borrego Visitor Center. We will 1st carpool to lower Coyote Canyon and Henderson Road stopping to wander around the fields of wildflowers.
Next, we will enter the Park ($10 per vehicle fee) and hike up rocky Borrego Palm Canyon Trail to the palm oasis (700 feet elevation gain, 3 miles total, 2 hours+) viewing wildflowers and perhaps the elusive bighorn sheep.
Bring 2 quarts of water and a snack. Optional lunch in Borrego Springs. Please check the Registrants to arrange carpools to save gas and renew friendships. Limited to 25 people.
