Hike Description:

As the title indicates, this 6 mile relatively flat hike is the combination of the Piedras Pintadas and Bernardo Bay loop trails that encircle the southern shoreline of Lake Hodges in the Rancho Bernardo area. The Piedras Pintadas trail is an interpretive trail that provides interpretive insights into the life of the Kumeyaay Indian culture. The Bernardo Bay Trail wraps around Lake Hodges and provides an important habitat for many native and migratory birds. This trail also provides identification markers for many of the native plants in the San Diego Coastal Sage Scrub ecosystem.
Poles may be useful, good hiking shoes, plenty of water. Restrooms at the start & end
