Harper Creek, Westside & Eastside Trail Loop Hike

Thursday April 18, 2024 9:30

HARPER CREEK

Leader: Dave Dohren (619) 517-8867      ddohren@san.rr.com

This scenic 6.5 mile gentle loop (500 feet of elevation gain) hike offers oaks, meadows, pines, wildflowers, a creek and a small water fall. We’ll start off on the West Side Trail to the Upper Green Valley Fire Road Trail which leads us to Harper Creek.  On our return, we follow the East Side Trail back to Sweetwater River and our parking area.

Bring snack/lunch, water, poles for water crossings, sunscreen and sturdy hiking shoes. Be prepared for muddy trails in some places and water crossings from recent rains.

We will meet at the parking area at mile 4.9 on Highway 79 in the Rancho Cuyamaca State Park just north of Green Valley campground. There’s a large parking area on the east side of the road just before the Sweetwater River Bridge. Rain or snow cancels.

We will arrange carpools for registrants a few days before the hike.
