CUYAMACA LAKE HIKE
October 30 at 10:00
This Hike in Cuyamaca State Park is a level 5.5- mile loop around Lake Cuyamaca – Rated Easy to Moderate. The Lake sits at an elevation of 4600 in a varied pine and oak forest as well as open meadow areas. The dam that forms this 110 acre lake is the 2nd oldest in California, completed in 1888. A long vanished wooden flume transported water from the Lake down to a growing San Diego. We should see plenty of birds, many fishermen and have great views along the way.
We will begin this hike at 10:00 on October 28 at the Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant & Store where there will be plenty of parking just south of the Store. The Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant and Store is located at GPS Location 15027 CA – 79, Julian, CA). This is right on Highway 79 about 8.5 miles south of Julian and 14 miles north of I – 8. Meet at the front of the store
NOTE: There is a $10 per carload fee which must be paid in the store before the group can hike around the Lake. So, I will assist in setting up carpools.
Dogs OK, Porta Potties along the way, poles not necessary, bring plenty of water and a snack.
You may want to join me for a scrumptious lunch and or pie at the restaurant at the end of the hike.
