HIKE - Santa Ysabel Upper Truck Trail

3-4 -mile moderate hike along the truck trail paralleling the Santa Ysabel Creek in the Ramona area of Pamo Valley. We will hike up out of the valley and then return back down to our cars. This gravel and paved road connects the Pamo Valley Trail system almost to Lake Sutherland. Views of Pamo Valley, Orosco Ridge and Black Mountain. We will walk out about 1 1/2 to 2 -miles and take our required selfie and then after a snack, return. This trail is a portion of the 70 plus miles of trails managed by the San Dieguito River Park and is one of the 5 challenge hikes for 2025.

Bring plenty of water, a snack, poles might be nice and good hiking shoes. Restrooms at the staging area. Poles not really necessary. No cell phone coverage. Carpools will be arranged

DIRECTION to Staging Area: 
From Escondido, go east on Hwy. 78.
Turn left on Haverford Rd. and go 0.8 miles.
At a 90 degree left curve, the road becomes Pamo Rd.
Continue on Pamo Rd. 2.7 miles, past the old landfill and down into Pamo Valley.
Just past the junction with Orosco Ridge Road, turn left into the staging area. From the staging area, we will drive up the valley 3 miles to the trailhead.
