STARTING LOCATION CHANGE: We will be meeting at 9:45 am in front of the Better Buz at 909 Prospect, La Jolla, CA 92037 so we can start our tour at 10 am. From there we will be walking down hill over to the Children’s pool to start the tour.
LUNCH: Spiro’s at 909 Prospect STE 100b, La Jolla, CA after the tour. You order at the counter, pay and they will have seating reserved for us. You can have lunch at other places and I did check the “Kitchen” next to MCASD and found it to be a little pricey.
PARKING: Although there are 2-3 hour free parking “IF” you can get one its best to carpool and park for $15.00 at 909 Prospect for the entire day. Remember the tour can be from 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours, lunch, then take your time at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) that is open FREE to the public. I looked into a docent for the MCASD however they charge $15.00 pp plus paid in full 2 weeks ahead of time. I picked this date mainly because a lot of members had interests in seeing the MCASD.

One of the most scenic walks in San Diego starts at the picturesque La Jolla Cove, this coastal walking tour unveils some of the most breathtaking views. La Jolla Cove is a hotspot for spotting playful marine life like sea lions, cormorants, seagulls and one of the largest birds in the state, the California Brown Pelican. As you begin walking south along the well-maintained pathways, the Ellen Browning Scripps Park comes into view. This green expanse, lined with a variety of pine and palm trees.
As you approach the Children’s Pool, the scenery becomes even more captivating. Originally constructed as a safe swimming area for children, this protected cove has become a sanctuary for harbor seals. February is the birthing month for harbor seals to give live birth on the beach.
Be sure to bring your camera, as every turn along this coastal route offers another stunning vista or charming detail worth capturing.
This leisurely walk blends natural beauty, wildlife encounters, and peaceful seaside vibes, making it a quintessential La Jolla experience.
