About this event
This beautiful hike is one of the five San Dieguito River Park challenge hikes for this year. On this hike, we will hike up beautiful Volcan Mountain. From the James Hubbel designed gateway, we will hike 5 miles and1000 feet up to the summit of Volcan Mountain for great views of the San Dieguito and the San Diego River valleys. We should see a nice assortment of wildflowers on this moderate to more difficult hike.
Bring lunch or a snack, sturdy hiking boots, plenty of hydration needs, sun protection, with hiking poles recommended. Dress in layers as the weather could go from cold to warm with possible wind.
Directions: From Santa Ysabel, take Hwy 79 east about 3.4 miles, turn left on Wynola Road. In 3.6 miles, turn left on Farmer Road. The trailhead is 200 yards north of Wynola Road. Carpools will be arranged
