Barnett Ranch is a part of an original Mexican land grant that has operated as a cattle ranch sin the 1860s.Barnett Ranch Preserve winds through a grove of Coast Live Oaks and climbs a small hill. After reaching the top of the mountain, the trail leads you along a grassy, open hilltop where the verdant fields are dotted with stones and trees. You can take in a beautiful view from this high vantage point. The trail also leads to an open space that is ideal for relaxing and has a picnic table. There's also a commanding view over the Preserve and a valley below.

Wide, easy trails. Any hiking shoe works, bring plenty of water and a hat as there is little shade, bring a snack, porta potty at the beginning, hiking poles not necessary. Please use the Rocker Membership Directory to arrange carpools. Perhaps one from east county coming up 67 and one from PQ/RB

Possible lunch afterwards at the Kountry Kitchen located at 826 Main Street. Take San Vicente Road directly into town and turn right on Main Street
