Hike - PALOMAR MOUNTAIN STATE PARK

About this event

PALOMAR MOUNTAIN STATE PARK
6 - mile moderate to somewhat strenuous hike through one of the few mountain areas in San Diego County with a mature pine forest. This figure 8 hike will start at the Doane Pond parking area. We will head out on the Thunder Springs Trail, then up about 900 feet on the Chimney Flats Trail and onto the Scotty's Cabin Trail. Then back down the Cedar Trail returning to the parking lot where we will have a brief break before heading out on the Nature Trail, Weir Trail and return on the French Valley Trail.
Palomar State Park requires a $10 registration fee per vehicle. A State Park pass can be obtained at your local county library in advance. It's a long way up the mountain so allow yourselves extra time.
Restrooms available. Poles recommended, bring plenty of fluids, a snack and wear good hiking shoes.
