About this event

New Class - West Coast Swing 
Are you a lead or want to learn to be a lead (usually a male)? We are recruiting for leads to join the February class.



We are continuing to offer swing dance classes to Rocker members, who can also register up to two guests to attend our custom-designed classes. No experience is needed, just bring your enthusiasm. It will run 10:30 to 11:20 a.m. each Tuesday starting March 10 for four weeks at Dance Headquarters, 5035 Shawline St., near Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Interstate 805. Cost is $72 per person. You must sign up and pay for all four classes in advance no later than Thursday, March 5.

Please consider signing up with a partner, but since most classes have fewer leads (typically males) we will rotate throughout the class.





West Coast Swing is a modern, improvisational partner dance, characterized by a smooth "stretchy" look and a linear "slotted" structure. It is known for its versatility. It can be danced to diverse music genres, such as pop, blues, R & B, hip-hop, and contemporary songs.

What to expect:

Four progressive 50-minute sessions during the month of March, each building on steps and skills taught from previous weeks. Note: You must sign up for the entire four-class series.
Please recruit a partner to attend with you, if at all possible. One will be the lead (usually a male) and the other a follower (usually a female). Since there are often more followers than leads, partners will rotate throughout the class.
Bring smooth bottomed shoes, that buckle, tie, or otherwise secure to your feet and that won’t mark up the dance floor. Dress is casual. No need for fancy clothing here.
Please plan on being in the classroom ready to dance on time. Being on time helps us get started on time and minimizes disruptions to the instruction.
You must sign up and pay for all four classes in advance. Pre-registration and pre-payment to Margie no later than Thursday, March 5 is required. First come, first served.
