PAMO VALLEY - Santa Ysabel Truck Trail

A 4-6 mile out and back moderate hike through the pristine Pamo Valley, just outside of Ramona. This wonderful hidden valley gem was schedule to be a reservoir 70 years ago but it did not materialize. Thus the Valley is relatively untouched. We will hike above the Santa Ysabel Creek for two or three miles along an old road and return the same way. Wear good hiking boots, bring water and a snack. Poles not really needed. Porta Potty at parking area.

Pamo Valley Staging Area

  From Escondido, go east on Hwy. 78.

Turn left on Haverford Rd. and go 0.8 miles.

At a 90 degree left curve, the road becomes Pamo Rd.

Continue on Pamo Rd. 2.7 miles, and down into Pamo Valley. Just past the junction with Orosco Ridge Road, turn left into the staging area.
