San Diego Rescue Mission
Due to the Covid-19 issues, the Rescue Mission is limiting our group to 6 Rockers until further notice.
San Diego Rescue Mission is a nonprofit homeless shelter and recovery center serving
thousands of homeless, hungry and poor men, women and children.
Our Get Off Your Rockers volunteers will be serving our community on the first Wednesday of every month. The volunteer rep will have organized a variety of chores to do each time.
The City Rescue Mission was founded in 1955 and immediately began providing food, clothing and spiritual guidance to the region’s homeless. In 1958, this soup kitchen expanded its services to include short-term shelter and services for up to 85 men. Two years later, the Mission made history by opening the first shelter for women and children in San Diego County.
Fast forward to 2004, San Diego Rescue Mission consolidated all its rehabilitation programs into the former Harbor View Medical Center at 120 Elm Street, doubling its capacity to help more people than ever. It was there that Mission Academy was born, continuing the focus on holistic, long-term recovery and rehabilitation.
Their programs are designed not
only
to meet the immediate, tangible necessities of those who come to us in need, but also to address the underlying issues of the heart. This is how lives are transformed, impacting San Diego one life at a time.
It’s a catalyst for a hope-filled future.
They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is qualified to receive tax-deductible donations.
