HIKE - Black Mountain Open Space

Covering an area of 2400 acres, Black Mountain Open Space is a natural jewel for San Diego. Home to several hundred species of native plants and animals, these hillsides and canyons offer a glimpse of what San Diego looked like before our urban sprawl. This approximate 5 mile hike up 500 feet to the summit of Black Mountain is a more difficult hike but should be worth the effort for the view on a clear day.

Restrooms available at the Trailhead. Good sturdy hiking boots, poles needed, a snack and plenty of fluids needed for this hike.
