Why be a Rocker?

Get Off Your Rockers (GOYR) provides organized activities for over-50 adults, primarily focused on physical activities, but also social interaction.  Studies show that staying physically and socially active can actually lead to longer life and may even reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease!

 

Exercise

GOYR has several physical activities scheduled every week.  There are recognized benefits to regular exercise, such as weight control, improved cardiovascular health, strengthen bones and muscles, improved mental health, improved balance, and longer life.

 

Social

In addition to the social interaction of our sports activities, you will see a number of social events on the GOYR calendar every month.  Research has shown that social interaction offers older adults many benefits.  Staying socially active and maintaining interpersonal relationships can help you maintain good physical and emotional health and cognitive function. 

 

And all this is provided at a very low cost, so, you could say, there are financial benefits, too!  Our annual dues are low, and many activities - biking, hiking, walking, boogie-boarding - are free, while others are low cost.
